Rotation Diet

A fast weight loss diet based on alternating your calorie/kilojoule intake over a three-week period.

For the first three days you consume 600 cal/2520 kJ, stepping this up to 900 cal/3780 kJ for the next four days, then sticking to the trial hundred calorie/5040 kJ for the following week.

Finally during the third week you switch game to the 600/900 cal 2520/3780 kJ rotation.
Men follow an alternative 1200/1500/1800 cal 5040/6300/7560 kJ rotation.

According to its innovator, Dr Martin Katahn, women following this form of synchronised stop-go calorie kilojoule controlled eating achieve weight loss of  2/3 to 1 pound per day over 21 days while men may succeed in even higher weight loss.

The weight loss rotation diet is well balanced, low in saturated fats, high in fibre rich carbohydrates, lean meat, fish, poultry, fruit and vegetables

.

The weight loss diet has been devised very sensibly taking into account two depressing and universal problems that afflict the majority of dieters-insufficient initial weight loss and, in the case of those who do not lose a lot of weight on a "crash diet", the tendency to put it all back again and near-normal eating  resumed after the diet.

Both these problems are often the direct result of the bodies tendency to lower its base metabolic rate in response to a prolonged i.e. 2 to 3 weeks period of drastically reduced food intake.

This metabolic adaption, an inbuilt evolutionary mechanism probably developed by man to survive periods of famine works against the modern day slimness by slowing down the rate at which large amounts of weight can be lost.

Following the premise that a very restricted calorie/kilojoule intake is essential for fast weight loss, the diet ingenuously aims to secure those fast weight  losses initially while prevent the body from becoming accustomed long-term, undeviating low calorie/kilojoule input, so decreasing its metabolic rate.

By alternately raising and lowering the amount of calories/kilojoules eaten, the idea is, on the contrary, to raise metabolic rate, ideally increasing a person's ability to the normally after the fast weight loss diet without gaining weight.

Dr Katahn claims that once they have lost weight most people eating the judicious choice of healthy food and taking plenty of exercise should eat 20% more calories/kilojoules per day than they do normally and not gain weight.

Wishful thinking this may be, especially with those whose "normal diet" includes cakes, fried potatoes and chocolate bars, but is in fact a neatly logical hypothesis which fits in well with current "set point" and "dieting makes you fat" theories.

Regular daily exercises strongly recommended as an adjunct as this helps further in raising metabolism. Another point in favour of this chop change system of dieting is that it avoids much of the bordom, and sense of deprivation inherent with many rapid weight loss diets and therefore does a lot to boost motivation to stick to it.

After a break of a week or a month anyone with more weight to lose may resume the diet.

Fast weight losses of over 70 pounds /34 kg are recorded on the rotation diet.

Diabetics however must not follow 600/900 cal 2520/3780 kJ eating plans and are advised to follow high calorie/kilojoule limitations.

As with the F plan, this ranks is probably the most interesting, effective and nutritionally sound weight of scheme around, and will suit those people who find their weight "sticks" at about five or ten pounds (2.25/4.5 kg)  above their desired weight.

Fast weight loss potential is excellent at five pounds (2.25 kg) or more during the first and third week, about 2 1/2 pounds/1 kg over the second middle week, with higher rates for men. You could hope to lose an average of 12 1/2 pounds/5 kg over 21 days. Regular exercises recommended to accelerate weight loss and prevent weight gain.
